A Bit About Us

Topanga Canyon Docents was formed in 1981, shortly after the creation of Topanga State Park, for the purpose of introducing the public to the natural wonders of the Santa Monica Mountains. Docents are trained volunteers who lead interpretative nature walks for both the general public and for school children in Topanga State Park. The goal of their work is to increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the natural environment, to develop a concern for the preservation of wildlands, and for responsible stewardship of the earth.
